A 31 year old Marlette, Michigan man (name withheld by request),
while driving north on M-53, five miles south of Marlette, Michigan, and ten miles west of
Peck, witnessed an object plummet straight
down toward the earth
"It was a brilliant golden object with a long flaming tail.
I watched it fall straight down to the horizon. I'm pretty sure
that it was a meteor or Mir or something...a piece of debris of
some sorts in the atmosphere".

The sighting lasted no more than two seconds before the object
disappeared near the horizon.
Both Selfridge ANGB in Mount Clemens, Michigan and the University
Of Michigan Astronomy Department in Ann Arbor, Michigan are being
contacted concerning this and other related events.
This now makes four reported craft/strange lights events
occurring on December 2, 1997 between 2000 EST and 2045 EST. All
four events, two in Birch Run and two in the Peck/Marlette area,
have occurred on the same general latitude.
